Privacy
This notice explains the limited personal information used to take payments, provide Wall Pass access, protect the service and restore access when recovery email is available.
Who is responsible
Walkers' Wall is an independent personal project. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
What is collected
- Payments: Stripe collects your payment and checkout email. Walkers' Wall receives the Stripe checkout reference, payment status, purchased price and checkout email. We do not receive or store your full card details.
- Access: a random entitlement identifier, pass type and expiry are stored with the public half of a browser-generated device key. The private key stays in that browser and cannot be exported by the site.
- Recovery: the checkout email is converted into a one-way keyed hash used to find the Stripe purchase. The plain email is not stored in the Walkers' Wall access database. Recovery links are single-use and short-lived.
- Security: short-lived request counters may use your IP address or hashed email to limit abuse. Cloudflare also processes normal web-request information to deliver and protect the site.
- On your device: map defaults, saved points, pending unlock references and your entitlement are stored in browser storage. GPS is used only when you ask the map to locate you; Walkers' Wall does not upload or retain your live position.
Why it is used
Payment and entitlement information is used to provide the fixed-period access you purchased. Security information is used to prevent misuse and keep paid data protected. Recovery information is used only to restore an active pass at your request. These uses are necessary to perform the purchase contract or are legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service.
Services involved
Stripe processes checkout payments. Cloudflare hosts, delivers and protects the website and its access records. When pass-recovery email is enabled, Resend delivers the requested recovery message. Each provider processes information under its own privacy terms and appropriate data-protection arrangements.
How long information is kept
Entitlement and recovery lookup records expire with the purchased access period. A recovery code expires after 30 minutes. Abuse-control counters are short-lived. Stripe keeps payment records under its own legal and retention obligations. Browser-stored information remains on your device until it expires or you clear the site's data.
Sharing and your choices
Personal information is not sold and is not used for advertising or a mailing list. It is shared only with the service providers above where needed to run the site. You can ask what information is held about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, or raise a concern using the contact email above. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
